Montpelier, VT — Today, Vermont Conservation Voters (VCV) announced its endorsement of Molly Gray for Lieutenant Governor.
“Molly Gray will bring to the Lieutenant Governor’s office a compelling vision focused on building stronger and more resilient communities by investing in our people and environment. She has an impressive record of public service focused on improving people’s lives,” said Lauren Hierl, executive director of VCV.
Lt. Governor Candidate Molly Gray added, “As someone born and raised on a vegetable and dairy farm, I share the belief that we have a responsibility to take care of the land and environment that has taken care of us. We also know that our working lands and natural environment are what attract people to our state and bring us together. We have so much work to do, and I am excited to partner with Vermont Conservation Voters to help protect our land and environment for future generations and to build a brighter future for our state.”
Gray has spent much of her career working to advance human rights and humanitarian causes, including time spent internationally. In addition to working for U.S. Representative Peter Welch, she worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Code of Conduct Association, and most recently in the Vermont Attorney General’s Office. Gray grew up on a farm in rural Vermont, where she’s seen firsthand many of the challenges facing our communities. Notably, she would be only the fourth female Lieutenant Governor in Vermont’s history, and one of the few female statewide officeholders.
“At this critical time, we need positive and forward-looking leadership and vision from a new generation of leaders, and Molly Gray embodies these qualities,” Hierl added. “We encourage Vermonters to elect Molly Gray as Vermont’s next Lieutenant Governor.”
